"Last Thing You'll Say" - Steve's Guitars

Michigan native polyarithmetic Lena Maude has a quirky presence that is extremely playful and serious. Her music moves between indie folk and experimental pop using wide-ranging animalistic vocals, fingerstyle guitar, looping textures, and any object that makes sound. Lena’s heartfelt performances are full of expressive emotion, biting edges, and freak-folk frills.
Lena is a book nerd, journaler, and sketch doodler with a necessity for nature immersion. She draws influence from poetic authors & songwriters, rural small-town life, and the dream world/energetic cosmology. All of her songs and artworks have themes of light and dark intermingling: nature, myth, mystery, and the tender condition of being alive. Her primary mediums are watercolor, pen, and doodle instruments.
The youngest of a musical family, Lena was gifted her first guitar at age 15. She quickly taught herself how to play and songwriting naturally became an integral part of her personal life. Lena’s musical career, however, was sidelined for the pursuance of a ‘marketable’ profession which landed her a Math degree and a lot of confusion.
For a 7 year cycle Lena was in the blizzardly far north contending with the Self and life purpose. During this time, she stumbled upon another aspect of her artistic voice in response to nervous system spazzing (insomnia, anxiety, etc): A kooky looping pop witchdoctor. Her music comes from seeking ah-ha moments in which everything makes sense, engaging in wistful reflection, watching the patterns of the mind, negotiating with a material world yet yearning for deeper connection.
Lena hit the road during the winter of 2024-25 on the Change Everything You Know tour toting a large repository of unheard songs. During this tour she made it a mission to reformat her entire life: face fear, augment beliefs and habits, let go of physical ties, and learn to embody her most selfy-self. Is it working? TBD.
Listeners are invited along for the journey of exploring the deeply meaningful with a touch of big-picture humor. Lena is currently in Colorado working on her brain and next releases including an indie folk album titled Just in Case Love.
